How Can I Improve PTE Reading Score – Multiple Choice section?

Here, I am sharing Tips for Multiple Choice section.

PTE Reading has three main sections:

1. Multiple Choice

a. Multiple Choice, Choose Single Answer

b. Multiple Choice, Choose Multiple Answers

2. Re-Order Paragraphs

3. Fill in the Blanks

a. Drag and Drop

b. Drop Down Menu

Tips for Multiple Choice – Choose Single Answer

Approach the question as follows:

a. Read the purpose of the question (mostly given in bold text)

b. Read all the options

c. Highlight the main idea in each option

d. Read the passage

e. Select the right option

Tip: It is especially important to skim the main idea from each option so that you can easily scan the relevant information in the main text.

Tips for Multiple Choice – Choose Multiple Answers

Follow the following steps carefully:

a. Read the purpose the question (mostly given in bold text)

b. Read only the first option

c. Highlight the main idea in the first option

d. Read the passage

e. Decide if the option is correct or incorrect

f. Select the option or

g. Repeat the above steps for the second option

Tip: If you are aiming for 50 or 65 in Reading then in Choose Multiple Options section, choose only one option.

Reason: Because there is negative marking. If you select more than one option and one of them is wrong while the other is right, you will score zero. That will waste your time and effort as compared to if you carefully select only one option and score one mark for the right answer.
