How Many Words for Band 7 IELTS Essay?

The word-count for IELTS essay varies between 285 to 335 words.

The factor which increase the word-count depends upon if the essay has asked for your opinion.

For instance, look at the following two essays:

1. Every year several languages die out. Some people think that this is not important because life will be easier if there are fewer languages in the world. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion? (Cambridge English IELTS 9, p.102) (word count: approx. 285)
