Student normally avoid making the rough structure for IELTS Essay (and same applies to IELTS Letter Writing which I will address in another blog).
This is because they assume that it is a waste of effort and better to start writing straight away as ideas will come-by during their writing.
I as an experienced IELTS Tutor and having gone through more than 80 IELTS students so far assure you that you are not giving yourself a good favour. You must Mind Map, develop ideas which ideally should be interrelated and indicate examples before writing your essay.
Therefore, make Mind Mapping as your habit so the structure is well aligned delivering one-single and coherent message throughout the IELTS Essay.
So where should you start from?
Follow the following 7 steps:
1. Write the essay question
2. Take one-side i.e., either agree or disagree
3. Make 2 to 3 supporting points
4. Produce 2 details per supporting point
5. Mention one example for each detail
6. List down synonyms of the words given in the main essay topic
7. Start writing your essay
If you follow the above steps properly, not only you will feel comfortable in writing the IELTS Essay but also struggle less in producing range of vocabulary.
